West Indies Beats Pakistan In First Test Match of Series

by urooj Fatima

West Indies made a winning start to the two-match Test series by defeating Pakistan by 90 runs in the first Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad. The victory gives the hosts a 1-0 lead in the series.

Chasing a target of 211 runs, Pakistan’s batting line-up struggled under pressure and was bowled out for 120. Despite a fighting effort from Babar Azam, Pakistan failed to build partnerships as the West Indies bowlers dominated the final innings.

Fast bowler Jayden Seales was the star of the match, claiming a brilliant five-wicket haul in Pakistan’s second innings. He received excellent support from Justin Greaves, whose all-round performance played a key role in securing the win for the Caribbean side.

The defeat is a disappointing start for Pakistan in the series and also hurts their position in the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 standings. Pakistan now faces a must-win situation in the second Test if they hope to level the series
