Pakistan is preparing to establish a 150-acre automotive processing zone at Port Qasim in Karachi, a project aimed at expanding the country’s vehicle-related trade and strengthening its position in regional automotive markets.
The proposed AIRE Park is designed to create a dedicated ecosystem for vehicle imports, refurbishment, display and exports. The development is expected to include 264 operational units, providing space for a range of automotive businesses and support services.
Planned facilities include vehicle refurbishment workshops, car display units, machinery yards, commercial areas and auto spare-parts facilities. By bringing these activities together in one location, the project aims to improve efficiency and create new opportunities across the automotive value chain.
Officials estimate that the zone could generate approximately $200 million in annual net foreign exchange, while potential exports from the project could reach around $500 million. These projections highlight the government’s expectations for AIRE Park to contribute to foreign exchange earnings and increase automotive exports.
One of the project’s major advantages will be its direct access to Port Qasim. This location could help reduce inland transportation and logistics expenses for businesses involved in importing and exporting vehicles and automotive components.
The proposed zone could also support Pakistan’s ambitions to expand its regional vehicle trade. With access to major shipping routes, businesses operating at AIRE Park could potentially target markets across South Asia, the Gulf region and East Africa.
