Pakistan has expanded the overseas network of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to eight countries, allowing the agency to work more closely with foreign authorities on immigration and law-enforcement cases.
FIA immigration link offices are now operating through Pakistani missions in Oman, Iran, Greece, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Türkiye and the UAE. The offices are designed to improve coordination on cases involving Pakistani nationals abroad.
The FIA officers can help verify Pakistani nationality and travel documents, investigate suspected document fraud, assist detained citizens, coordinate repatriation and support investigations into human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
The agency’s overseas presence also provides direct communication with foreign immigration, border-control and law-enforcement authorities. This can help Pakistani officials obtain information and coordinate action in cases involving illegal migration and suspected criminal networks.
The FIA office in the United Kingdom, established in December 2025, has already handled more than 150 nationality-verification cases and over 124 documentation-related cases, according to reported figures.
Iran has also been a major area of activity. The FIA’s Tehran office reported more than 34,000 safe repatriations between 2024 and August 2026, while also assisting Pakistani nationals during regional crises.
The government is also considering establishing FIA immigration offices in Saudi Arabia and Poland, which could further expand Pakistan’s overseas coordination network.
Officials say the initiative is focused on tackling human smuggling, trafficking, immigration fraud and irregular migration while providing assistance to Pakistanis facing immigration-related issues abroad.
