Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic flash flood in Swat River that took the lives of 11 people, including 10 tourists from Daska, Punjab. She said the incident was heartbreaking and added that if help had reached in time, some lives could have been saved.

Offering condolences to the families of the victims, she assured them that the government stands by them in this difficult time and will provide full support.

In response to the incident and ongoing heavy monsoon rains, Maryam Nawaz directed Rescue 1122, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and local authorities to stay on high alert. She emphasized the need for quick and coordinated action to prevent further tragedies.

She also ordered that emergency teams be deployed at tourist spots across Punjab to ensure timely response in case of emergencies. These teams are now actively working to protect visitors in vulnerable areas.

Rescue operations in Swat are still ongoing, with three tourists reported missing. Rescue teams are making all possible efforts to find them.

To avoid further loss of life, Section 144 has been imposed to b*an recreational activities near rivers and other water bodies. This step aims to reduce risks as weather conditions remain unpredictable.

The government has urged the public to avoid visiting dangerous areas during the monsoon and to follow safety instructions strictly.
