The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) is set to allocate Rs1 billion for city decoration, outdoor branding and event management in the federal capital.
The funds will be used throughout the year to decorate Islamabad during national days and to welcome national and international dignitaries and foreign delegations. The allocation comes through the Capital Development Authority (CDA), which provides financial support to the MCI.
According to officials, the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) previously hired separate contractors for different events. Under the new arrangement, a rate-running contract will cover branding and event-management requirements, aiming to reduce delays and streamline procurement.
MCI Deputy Director General Tariq Latif said Rs600 million was spent on city branding and related services last year. He said the allocation had now been increased to Rs1 billion because of inflation and expectations of more international events in Pakistan.
The procurement will follow a single-stage, two-envelope procedure. Technical bids will be evaluated first, while financial proposals will be opened only for companies that meet the technical requirements.
The contract will initially remain valid for two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension.
The development comes as Islamabad continues efforts to improve its appearance during major national and international events. Earlier, authorities also introduced large-scale branding and beautification measures across key roads and public spaces during international diplomatic events.
