Pakistan’s men’s volleyball team ended a 64-year wait for an Asian Games medal, defeating China 3–0 in the bronze-medal match at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games on Saturday.

Playing at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium in Japan, Pakistan produced a dominant performance, winning all three sets 25–18, 25–16 and 25–18. The victory secured Pakistan’s first Asian Games volleyball medal since the 1962 Jakarta Games, when the team also won bronze.

Opposite hitter Murad Khan led Pakistan’s scoring with 18 points, while Afaq Khan and Ali Usman Faryad contributed 14 points each. Musawer Khan added eight as Pakistan maintained control throughout the match.

Pakistan had entered the bronze-medal playoff after losing 3–0 to defending champions Iran in the semi-final. The team responded strongly against China, taking control of the match and finishing the contest in straight sets.

The first set was closely contested early on, but Pakistan gradually pulled away to win 25–18. They then dominated the second set 25–16 before maintaining their momentum in the third to complete another 25–18 victory.

The medal marks a significant moment for Pakistan volleyball, which had not stood on the Asian Games podium since 1962. The team’s campaign also included victories over Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and India before the semi-final defeat to Iran.

Pakistan’s historic bronze adds another medal to the country’s Asian Games campaign and brings the men’s volleyball team back onto the continental podium after more than six decades.
