Pakistan has exported 85,247 tons of mangoes to 49 countries, generating an estimated Rs29.7 billion in export revenue and highlighting the importance of the country’s fruit industry.

Mangoes are among Pakistan’s most popular agricultural products and are widely recognised for their sweetness, flavour and variety. The country produces several well-known varieties, including Chaunsa, Sindhri, Anwar Ratol and Langra, which attract consumers in domestic and international markets.

The exports demonstrate the potential of Pakistan’s agricultural sector to earn foreign exchange and expand its presence in global markets. Pakistani mangoes are shipped to several destinations, including countries in the Middle East, Europe and other parts of Asia.

The mango industry also supports thousands of farmers, seasonal workers, packers, transporters and exporters. From harvesting and grading to packaging and shipping, the supply chain provides employment opportunities across several regions of the country.

However, exporters face challenges such as rising transportation costs, limited cold-storage facilities, international competition and strict quality requirements in overseas markets. Maintaining freshness during long-distance transportation is particularly important for a perishable fruit like mangoes.

Industry experts believe that investment in modern packaging, improved storage facilities and efficient transportation could help Pakistan increase its mango exports and reach additional international buyers.

The reported export figures underline the economic importance of Pakistan’s mango industry and its potential to contribute further to agricultural growth and export earnings.
