Danish Elahi has made Pakistan proud by emerging as the fastest Pakistani runner at the 2026 Sydney Marathon, completing the demanding 42.195-kilometre race in 3 hours, 29 minutes and 7 seconds.

The achievement came at the prestigious Sydney Marathon in Australia, one of the world’s major marathon events. The race attracted a sizeable contingent of Pakistani and Pakistani-origin runners, giving the country another opportunity to shine on the international athletics stage.

Elahi delivered a strong performance throughout the challenging course and crossed the finish line in an impressive time. His result placed him ahead of other Pakistani runners competing in the event, underlining his status as one of the leading marathon runners representing Pakistan.

Nosherwan Nawazish Ali finished in 3 hours, 49 minutes and 11 seconds, while Dr Rabia Naeem became the fastest Pakistani woman, completing the marathon in 3 hours, 52 minutes and 25 seconds.

The Sydney Marathon covers the official marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres and has become increasingly significant on the global running calendar. Since 2025, it has been part of the World Marathon Majors, placing it alongside some of the most prestigious marathon races worldwide.

The 2026 edition also produced spectacular elite performances. Ethiopia’s Addisu Gobena won the men’s race in a course-record 2:04:42, while Kenya’s Peres Jepchirchir claimed the women’s title in 2:18:31.

Danish Elahi’s achievement is another encouraging moment for Pakistani athletics. His performance demonstrates the growing presence of Pakistani runners in international competitions and highlights how dedication, training and determination can take local athletes onto the world stage.

For Pakistan’s running community, Elahi’s Sydney performance is a milestone worth celebrating.
