The Pakistan Navy has seized more than 2,800 kilograms of narcotics worth approximately $750 million during a joint counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan Navy ships PNS Hunain and PNS Yarmook were conducting routine patrols when they intercepted a suspicious boat. Naval personnel boarded and searched the vessel, discovering a large quantity of narcotics hidden inside concealed compartments.

The operation was conducted as part of Pakistan’s ongoing maritime security efforts to prevent illegal trafficking through the country’s sea routes.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf praised the officers and crew of both ships for their professionalism and vigilance during the operation. He also reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to protecting Pakistan’s maritime interests and combating illicit trafficking at sea.

President Asif Ali Zardari also commended the Navy personnel for the seizure, praising their efforts to prevent illegal activities in maritime areas and safeguard the country’s sea routes.

The latest seizure follows other recent counter-narcotics operations by Pakistani maritime authorities. In June, the Navy seized around two tonnes of drugs near Gwadar, including hashish and crystal methamphetamine, with an estimated international value of $215 million.

The Pakistan Navy said the latest operation demonstrates its continued surveillance and vigilance in the Arabian Sea and its efforts to disrupt maritime drug trafficking.
