Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has confirmed that Pakistani troops are already present in Saudi Arabia under the country’s longstanding defence cooperation with the Kingdom.
Speaking in an interview with CNN on Wednesday, October 7, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DGISPR) said Pakistani military personnel had been serving in Saudi Arabia for decades across multiple capabilities and domains.
He explained that the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement was not established in isolation but was built on longstanding diplomatic, political, military and people-to-people relations between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
The confirmation comes as the three countries move towards implementing their joint defence commitments. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed the Makkah Agreement on August 7, 2026, to strengthen collective security and defence cooperation.
Under the agreement, an armed attack against any one of the three member states is to be treated as an attack against all three, reinforcing their commitment to collective defence.
