Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and other national leaders congratulated Pakistan’s cricket team on Saturday night after they won the T20I Tri-Series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan chased down a target of 115 runs in 19 overs, losing four wickets along the way. Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan provided an important 46-run opening partnership, while Babar Azam and captain Salman Agha guided the team to victory. Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 37 off 34 balls, featuring two fours and a six, sealing a memorable six-wicket victory for the home side.
President Zardari said the hard work, discipline, and high performance of Pakistani players made the country proud. He also appreciated the players of Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for their excellent performance.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that all the players of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe gave excellent performances during the entire series. “The players of Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe won the hearts of the entire Pakistani nation. The successful holding of the tri-nation series in Pakistan is our great achievement”.
He also appreciated Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board and PCB administration for successfully holding the series.
Former Finance Minister called the current combination of players a “perfect build-up for the T20I World Cup,” while National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq praised the team’s cooperation and teamwork throughout the series.
The victory has boosted the morale of players ahead of future international commitments and showcases Pakistan’s strong momentum in T20 cricket, making the nation proud once again.
