PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Announces Weekly Musical Concerts to Fill Cricket Stadiums

by Mahnoor Arif

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a new initiative to keep stadiums busy during the cricket off-season. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi revealed that starting 15 December 2025, stadiums across the country will host weekly musical concerts until the start of PSL 11 in April 2026.

The plan aims to attract fans to stadiums even when there are no cricket matches. By hosting concerts, the PCB hopes to make better use of its facilities, generate additional revenue, and create excitement leading up to the Pakistan Super League. Naqvi said the concerts would feature popular local and international artists, giving fans entertainment and maintaining engagement with stadium venues.

In addition to the concerts, the PCB chairman spoke about upgrades to several domestic cricket venues. Islamabad will soon get a new stadium built to international standards, while Karachi’s National Bank Stadium will undergo renovations after PSL 11. These improvements are part of the PCB’s long-term plan to provide better facilities for players and fans.

The idea of using stadiums for entertainment events during the off-season is seen as innovative in Pakistan. Analysts believe it could help cricket remain in the public eye throughout the year and encourage more families and young people to visit stadiums.

Fans have welcomed the announcement on social media, expressing excitement at the chance to attend concerts in iconic cricket venues. The PCB hopes the weekly concerts will not only entertain but also create a lively atmosphere that strengthens the bond between cricket and its supporters ahead of the next PSL season.
