Young Pakistani spinner Sufiyan Muqeem has won the Player of the Tournament award in PSL 11 (2026). He dedicated this big honour to the late Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, the famous scientist known as the father of Pakistan’s nuclear programme.

Muqeem, a left-arm wrist spinner playing for Peshawar Zalmi, took 22 wickets in 11 matches. He finished as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with an average of 14.40. His brilliant bowling helped Zalmi win their second PSL title by beating Hyderabad Kingsmen in the final at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

At the post-match ceremony, Muqeem said he had worked very hard on his skills. “Individual awards are very important for a player,” he added. Then he made a heartfelt announcement: “I dedicate this award to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.” He also received the Bowler of the Tournament award and the Fazal Mahmood cap.

Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan passed away in October 2021 at the age of 85. He remains a national hero for many Pakistanis because of his role in making the country a nuclear power.

Sufiyan Muqeem, born on 15 November 1999 in Pallandri, Azad Kashmir, is 26 years old. He plays domestic cricket for Dolphins and has represented Pakistan in T20Is. His success in PSL 11 has brought new hope for Pakistan’s spin bowling future.
