Young Pakistani star Saim Ayub scored a brave fifty in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 final on Sunday. Playing for Hyderabad Kingsmen against Peshawar Zalmi at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Ayub made 54 runs off 50 balls. His knock included 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Ayub held the innings together after an early collapse. He came in at number three and showed great patience and power. He built small partnerships with teammates like Usman Khan and Hassan Khan. However, the rest of the batting order failed to support him well. Hyderabad Kingsmen were bowled out for 129 in 18 overs, setting Peshawar Zalmi a target of 130 runs.
This was a special innings for Ayub in such a big match. He showed why many call him a future star of Pakistan cricket. His strike rate of 108 and calm approach under pressure impressed fans and experts.
Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers dominated. Aaron Hardie took 4 wickets for 27 runs. Nahid Rana and Sufiyan Muqeem also took important wickets. They kept tight lines and did not allow big scoring.
Hyderabad Kingsmen, captained by Marnus Labuschagne, reached the final as underdogs. Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam, started as favourites after a strong season.
Ayub’s fifty gave his team a fighting chance, but they need strong bowling now to defend the low total. The final is still open, and fans are enjoying the exciting contest. Saim Ayub’s performance will be remembered even if his team does not win the trophy.
