Pakistan spinner Noman Ali has made history by becoming the oldest player to take 100 wickets in Test cricket. At 39 years and 217 days old, he broke a record that had stood for over 130 years. He achieved the milestone during the first Test against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Noman reached exactly 100 wickets by dismissing Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz. In the same match, he also took important wickets of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and spinner Taijul Islam. His performance showed great skill and control with the ball on a helpful pitch.
The previous record belonged to England’s Bobby Peel, who reached 100 Test wickets in 1896 at the age of 39 years and 180 days. Noman Ali has now surpassed that mark. He also became the joint fourth-fastest Pakistani bowler to hit the 100-wicket landmark, doing it in just his 22nd Test match.
Born on October 7, 1986, Noman made his Test debut late, at age 34 in 2021. Despite starting his international career late, he has become one of Pakistan’s top spinners. He has taken wickets at an impressive average and played key roles in recent series against England, West Indies, and South Africa.
This achievement highlights Noman’s hard work and talent. At nearly 40, he continues to prove that age is just a number in cricket. Fans and experts are praising him as a late bloomer who has joined Pakistan’s list of great spinners. His success inspires many young players to keep working hard no matter their age.
