Punjab Expands Green Transport Network with 1,000 New Electric Buses

by Mahnoor Arif

The Punjab government has approved a major plan to add 1,000 new electric buses to its public transport system. This big step will help create a cleaner and greener transport network across the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is leading this green initiative. The new electric buses will improve transport services in big cities as well as smaller districts and tehsils. The project aims to provide modern, comfortable, and affordable travel options to millions of people while reducing air pollution and fuel costs.

Officials say the buses will run on clean electric power. They will help decrease traffic congestion and support the government’s vision for a cleaner environment. The overall target is to introduce up to 1,500 electric buses in different parts of Punjab. Some buses have already started operating in cities like Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, and others.

The new fleet will focus on both intra-city and inter-city routes. The government is also planning better bus stops, charging stations, and proper infrastructure for these electric vehicles. This project is part of Punjab’s broader efforts to promote green energy and sustainable development.

This expansion is expected to create new jobs and give people a reliable alternative to private vehicles. Many citizens have welcomed the move, hoping it will make daily commuting easier and cheaper.
