Punjab Lifts Ban on Wheat and Flour Supply to KP, Delivery Resumes

by Mahnoor Arif

The Punjab government has lifted the ban on the supply of wheat and flour to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) after several months. This important decision will allow regular deliveries to resume across the province.

The move was finalized during a high-level meeting of a committee formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting was attended by federal ministers and representatives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. Authorities have directed the Punjab government to remove all obstacles and ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply of wheat and flour to KP.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa depends heavily on Punjab for wheat and flour because its local production is not enough to meet the province’s demand. The previous ban had caused shortages and pushed flour prices higher in KP, creating difficulties for the common man.

This decision is expected to stabilize the supply situation and help bring down flour prices in the coming days. It will provide much-needed relief to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.

The resumption of supply reflects improved coordination between the federal and provincial governments to solve the wheat crisis and ensure food security across the country.
