Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has distributed compensation cheques to the families affected by the tragic fire at Gul Plaza in Karachi. Each family of the deceased has been given Rs 10 million as financial support.

According to officials, compensation has already been provided to 63 families. The fire, which occurred in January, caused heavy loss of life and property. Several shops and offices in the building were also destroyed, leaving many people without income.

The Sindh government had earlier announced a total compensation package of Rs850 million. This includes payments for victims’ families as well as support for injured individuals and affected businesses. Authorities say the process is ongoing and more families will receive assistance if verified.

During the cheque distribution, the chief minister expressed grief over the incident and assured families that the government stands with them. He also said that strict action will be taken against those found responsible for negligence.

Officials added that steps are being taken to improve emergency response systems in Karachi. This includes better fire safety checks, improved rescue services, and stricter building regulations.

The incident has highlighted the need for stronger safety measures in commercial buildings to prevent such tragedies in the future.
