In a bold and unusual robbery, six armed men disguised as K-Electric staff looted a power substation in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, on the morning of April 27, 2026. The incident happened in Block 13-E between 7 am and 8 am.
The suspects wore official K-Electric uniforms, safety helmets, and jackets to look like company workers. They arrived in a mini truck and a car. Police later found that the mini truck was stolen from the DHA area.
Upon reaching the apartment building’s substation, the robbers tied the watchman and his son to chairs. They tortured both to stop them from raising an alarm. The group then spent nearly one hour removing valuable items. They took copper wiring, transformer bushings for the LT panel, busbars, breakers, and other electrical equipment.
This type of theft is common in Karachi because copper and electrical parts have high scrap value. Such robberies often cause power outages and extra repair costs for K-Electric.
After finishing the loot, the suspects fled in their vehicles. A resident tried to record them on a mobile phone, but the robbers escaped quickly.
Police have registered a case and launched a search. They are carefully checking CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits. Officers hope to arrest the gang soon with the help of the video evidence.
