Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the world cannot move forward without China, while speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
He praised China’s rapid progress in industry, technology, and infrastructure, calling it a key global economic power. He also described China as a reliable partner that has supported Pakistan during difficult economic and political challenges over the years.
President Asif Ali Zardari also addressed the event and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the One China policy. He said that relations with China remain a central part of Pakistan’s foreign policy and national interest.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation under the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, often referred to as CPEC 2.0. The new phase is expected to focus on sectors such as agriculture, information technology, artificial intelligence, mineral development, and special economic zones.
Officials from both countries also discussed expanding trade opportunities and improving connectivity projects. Security cooperation and regional stability were also part of the conversation, showing that the partnership goes beyond economic ties.
The event reflected the long standing relationship between Pakistan and China, which both sides described as a deep and strategic friendship. Leaders expressed hope that future cooperation will bring more growth and development for both countries and the wider region.
