PDMA issues Punjab Rain Alert as Thunderstorms, Hail Forecast Across Province

by Mahnoor Arif

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a province-wide alert for thunderstorms, rain, and possible hailstorms across Punjab. This warning comes after recent showers in many districts and more wet weather expected in the coming days.

On Saturday, PDMA warned of strong winds, thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and hail in most parts of the province. The alert covers cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, and many others. Officials expect this weather from around June 11 to 13 or longer, with some gaps.

PDMA has asked all commissioners and deputy commissioners to stay on high alert. They want local administrations to prepare for possible damage from strong winds, lightning, or hail. Citizens are advised to be careful, especially farmers, drivers, and people living in weak houses. Avoid outdoor activities during heavy rain or storms, secure loose objects, and stay updated through official sources.

This pre-monsoon activity brings relief from heat but can cause problems like fallen trees, power outages, or minor flooding in low areas. Punjab often sees such weather in June as the monsoon season approaches.

People should follow safety tips: keep emergency kits ready, check weather updates, and report any damage to local authorities quickly. Staying alert will help reduce risks and keep everyone safe during this rainy spell.
