by Mahnoor Arif

South Air, Pakistan’s newest private airline, is preparing for its official launch by rapidly expanding its fleet. The airline has received its first ATR 72-500 aircraft in Karachi, with a second expected to arrive within the next few days.

This quick addition of new planes shows South Air’s serious commitment to starting operations on time. The airline plans to use modern ATR 72 aircraft, which are known for their efficiency on short and regional routes. These planes are ideal for providing affordable air travel to smaller cities across Pakistan.

South Air aims to begin commercial flights in the first week of June 2026. The airline will focus on improving air connectivity between major cities and remote areas. Initial routes are expected to include Karachi, Quetta, Gwadar, Turbat, Islamabad, and Skardu.

The launch of South Air comes at a time when Pakistan’s aviation sector is seeing renewed interest and investment. The airline hopes to offer low-cost, reliable flights and make air travel more accessible for ordinary Pakistanis.

According to experts, South Air’s entry will increase competition in the domestic market, which could lead to better services and lower fares for passengers.
