Pakistan’s mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed has reached the top of the ICC Men’s T20I bowling rankings, becoming the world’s No. 1-ranked bowler in the latest update.
The 28-year-old moved to the summit with 736 rating points, edging Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan, who now sits second with 735 points. Australia’s Adam Zampa occupies third place with 700 points.
Abrar’s rise marks the first time in his career that he has claimed the No. 1 position in the T20I bowling rankings. His achievement adds another major milestone to an international career that has continued to grow across all three formats.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, Abrar has represented Pakistan in 38 T20Is and has taken 133 wickets across international cricket. He has also been ranked second in the ODI bowling rankings, with Rashid Khan currently holding the top position in that format.
Abrar has enjoyed a productive year in T20Is. He has played nine matches for Pakistan in 2026 and claimed 15 wickets. His performances included six wickets during Pakistan’s three-match home series against Australia, which Pakistan won 3-0.
Other Pakistani bowlers also feature in the latest rankings. Mohammad Nawaz remains eighth with 658 rating points, while Salman Mirza is 18th with 636 points. Shaheen Afridi occupies 33rd position with 602 points.
Abrar’s historic rise gives Pakistan another top-ranked player in international cricket and highlights his growing importance to the national T20I setup.
