Pakistan has announced new petroleum prices, with petrol now costing Rs316.15 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) priced at Rs354.35 per litre.
The government increased the petrol price by Rs5.44 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel was raised by a significant Rs31.05 per litre. The revised rates took effect on July 18, 2026, and are set to remain applicable through July 20, 2026.
According to the official announcement, petrol previously stood at Rs310.71 per litre, while high-speed diesel was priced at Rs323.30 per litre. The latest increase reflects changes in international oil prices and higher import-related costs amid ongoing regional tensions.
The sharp rise in diesel prices could increase transportation and logistics costs, potentially adding pressure to the prices of goods and services. Petrol consumers will also face higher expenses for daily commuting and private transport.
The government has also indicated a shift toward more frequent fuel price adjustments in response to volatility in international oil markets. This means petroleum rates could remain subject to further changes as global energy prices and regional developments evolve.
For consumers, the latest increase adds to concerns over household budgets and transportation expenses, while businesses dependent on fuel may also face higher operating costs.
