Kia Pakistan has opened bookings for its new hybrid SUVs even before announcing their final prices, giving customers an opportunity to reserve the vehicles ahead of the official price disclosure.
Lucky Motor Corporation, Kia’s local assembler, has started accepting bookings for the Kia Sportage L HEV and Kia Sorento PHEV. The move comes as the company awaits clarity on the final impact of recently introduced federal taxes and duties on hybrid vehicles.
Under the booking arrangement, customers can reserve the vehicles by making a partial payment, while the final price will be determined once the applicable government taxes and duties are finalized. This means buyers are committing to a vehicle before knowing exactly how much they will ultimately have to pay.
The strategy reflects the uncertainty currently surrounding Pakistan’s automotive market, particularly for hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Changes in taxation can significantly affect the final retail price of imported components and locally assembled vehicles.
The Sportage L HEV is among Kia’s most anticipated new offerings in Pakistan. The SUV features a hybrid powertrain and is positioned as a more fuel-efficient alternative to conventional petrol SUVs. Kia has also introduced a new design and updated technology for the latest Sportage L.
The company’s official booking portal confirms that customers can select the Sportage L HEV variant and submit their details through Kia’s dealer network.
The decision to accept bookings ahead of the final price announcement could help Kia gauge customer demand while also securing early orders. At the same time, buyers may face uncertainty because the eventual price could change depending on government taxes and other charges.
The move comes as competition in Pakistan’s hybrid SUV market intensifies, with several automakers introducing or preparing new hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.
For consumers, the key question remains whether the final price will justify booking before the price tag is officially revealed. Kia’s early-booking strategy suggests the company is confident enough in demand to invite customers to reserve its new hybrid SUVs despite the pricing uncertainty.
