Polish endurance swimmer Bartłomiej Kubkowski has made history by becoming the first person to successfully swim across the Baltic Sea from Sweden to Poland.

Kubkowski completed the extraordinary journey in around 55 hours, covering approximately 160 kilometres in one of the world’s most demanding open-water challenges. He completed the swim without sleeping and without taking breaks or receiving physical assistance from the support boat.

The achievement came after five attempts, with his previous efforts ending before he could complete the crossing. His latest success marks a remarkable milestone in open-water swimming and highlights the extreme physical and mental endurance required for such a journey.

Beyond the sporting achievement, Kubkowski’s challenge carried an important humanitarian purpose. The swim was also used to raise funds for children battling cancer, adding a charitable dimension to his record-breaking effort.

His historic crossing has drawn attention not only for its extraordinary distance and endurance but also for the cause behind it, turning a remarkable personal challenge into an effort aimed at helping children in need.
