Apple’s new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are facing early complaints about Face ID, while social media claims of green and pink lines appearing on displays have raised questions about whether some reports are genuine.
Several iPhone 18 Pro users have reported that Face ID can fail when unlocking protected apps, causing the phone to freeze and restart. Others have seen “Face ID Not Available” messages during setup or problems with the Require Attention for Face ID setting. The issue does not appear to affect every device.
Apple has confirmed that a software update is being developed to address the rebooting problem and is expected to be released in the coming days.
Meanwhile, posts on social media have claimed that some iPhone 18 Pro units are developing vertical green or pink lines on their displays. However, closer examination of at least one widely shared green-line video found inconsistencies suggesting that the image may have been edited or otherwise manipulated. Another pink-line video appears more credible, but there is currently limited evidence showing how widespread the display problem is.
The reports come shortly after the iPhone 18 Pro models went on sale on September 18, 2026. Apple has not indicated that a widespread hardware display defect exists.
For now, the Face ID problem has stronger evidence behind it, while the viral green-line claims remain less certain.
