According to data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), VGO Tel led the local mobile phone assembly market from January to August, overtaking Infinix, which had held the top position in previous years. Infinix ranked second with 1.96 million locally assembled devices, while Itel followed with 1.56 million units.

Tecno assembled 1.14 million phones during the same period, while Samsung recorded 1.01 million units. Vivo and Nokia each produced around 970,000 locally assembled devices.

Overall, Pakistan manufactured or assembled 18.66 million mobile phones during the first eight months of 2026, down around 6 percent from 19.77 million units during the same period in 2025. Despite the decline, locally assembled phones accounted for about 87 percent of the country’s mobile phone demand during the eight-month period.

The industry experienced a sharper slowdown in August, when local production fell to 1.66 million units, down 14 percent year-on-year and 57 percent from July.

The latest figures highlight VGO Tel’s growing position in Pakistan’s local mobile manufacturing sector, while also showing the continued importance of domestic assembly in meeting consumer demand.
