Pakistan has successfully test-fired the extended-range version of its Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile, marking another development in the country’s indigenous defence capabilities.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army conducted the successful test launch on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

The military’s media wing stated that the Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER) missile is equipped with advanced navigation technology and state-of-the-art avionics. These features are designed to improve its accuracy and operational performance.

ISPR said the missile’s unique trajectory and manoeuvrability enable it to engage targets with high precision while overcoming enemy missile defence systems. Its extended range is also expected to enhance the Pakistan Army’s ability to engage targets located at greater distances.

The test launch was witnessed by the commander of the Army Rocket Force Command, Lieutenant General Nauman Zakaria, along with senior military officers, scientists and engineers involved in the programme.

Following the successful test, the military leadership praised the scientists and engineers for their technical expertise and contributions to the country’s defence development.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and other senior military officials congratulated the team on the achievement.

The latest test follows the successful launch of an extended-range version of Pakistan’s Fatah-IV ground-launched cruise missile last week, highlighting continued efforts to strengthen the country’s conventional missile capabilities.

The Fatah missile programme is part of Pakistan’s broader effort to develop indigenous defence technologies and improve precision-strike capabilities. However, the military has not publicly disclosed the exact range of the newly tested Fatah-2 ER missile.
