British Activist Ruth Herbet Completes UK-Istanbul Walk to Raise Funds for Palestinians

by Mahnoor Arif

British activist Ruth Herbert, 52, has completed an extraordinary journey from Arnside in the United Kingdom all the way to Istanbul, walking thousands of kilometres to raise funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians. Her mission, driven by compassion and a deep sense of responsibility toward vulnerable communities, has captured global attention.

Herbert began her long trek on May 2, 2025, setting off with a small backpack, strong determination, and a clear goal: to use her walk as a platform to highlight the ongoing humanitarian needs of Palestinians. Over the months that followed, she crossed 10 different countries, moving from England to France, then onward through Switzerland and Italy.

She continued her route through Slovenia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, and Greece, before finally reaching Turkiye, completing one of the most inspiring solidarity walks of recent years.

In Istanbul, Herbert shared her journey in an exclusive interview, expressing how each country offered moments of kindness, support, and meaningful conversations about her cause. She said the walk was not only physically demanding but also emotionally powerful, reminding her of the importance of standing with people who face hardship every day.

Her efforts have already helped raise significant funds and awareness for medical assistance in Gaza and other affected areas. Through her dedication, Ruth Herbert has demonstrated how individual action, even something as simple as walking, can spark global attention, encourage unity, and amplify urgent humanitarian needs.
