Saudi Arabia Confirms Tomorrow as First Day of Ramadan

by Mahnoor Arif

Saudi Arabia has officially confirmed that tomorrow will mark the first day of Ramadan, following the sighting of the crescent moon. The announcement was made after testimonies of moon sighting were verified by the Supreme Court and relevant religious authorities.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and holds deep spiritual significance for Muslims around the world. During this month, believers observe fasting from dawn to sunset, refraining from food, drink, and other physical needs. The fast is broken at sunset with iftar, while pre dawn meals are known as suhoor.

The confirmation from Saudi Arabia is closely followed by many countries, as the Kingdom is home to Islam’s two holiest sites, Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina. Millions of Muslims also travel to the Kingdom during Ramadan to perform Umrah and offer prayers in these sacred mosques.

The start of Ramadan is determined by the sighting of the new moon, which may vary slightly between countries due to geographical differences. Religious scholars emphasize unity, patience, and increased acts of charity during the month.

With the official announcement, preparations for Taraweeh prayers and community gatherings have begun across Saudi Arabia, as Muslims welcome a month devoted to reflection, worship, and compassion.
