Trump says Pakistan ‘Really Helped US’ with Iran Deal

by Mahnoor Arif

US President Donald Trump has praised Pakistan for its important help in reaching a key agreement with Iran. He said Pakistan “really helped us” with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that aims to end recent tensions and conflict between the two countries.

Trump made these remarks in a recent interview with Axios. When asked about global leaders he likes, he spoke positively about Pakistan’s leadership. He noted that Pakistani officials knew the Iranians well and played a useful role in the talks. “They knew the people and they were good,” Trump said.

Pakistan acted as a major mediator in the negotiations. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir worked hard to bring the US and Iran closer. Their efforts helped lead to the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.” The deal includes steps like reopening the Strait of Hormuz, easing some sanctions, and starting talks for lasting peace.

This recognition from Trump highlights Pakistan’s growing role in regional diplomacy. It comes at a time when the US and Iran have taken important steps toward stability after months of challenges. Many see Pakistan’s involvement as a positive example of quiet but effective behind-the-scenes work.

The comments also show improving ties between Washington and Islamabad. Supporters in Pakistan view this as a proud moment for the country’s foreign policy. The MoU is seen as a first step toward bigger peace efforts in the region.
