Pakistan’s corporate sector has started the new financial year on a strong note, with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registering a record 5,438 new companies during July 2026.
According to the SECP, the latest figure marks the highest-ever monthly number of company registrations, highlighting growing entrepreneurial activity and increasing formalization of businesses across the country.
The record comes after an already strong performance in the previous financial year. The SECP had registered 43,559 new companies during FY2025-26, representing a 24% increase compared with the preceding year. June alone saw 4,323 new incorporations.
The surge in registrations reflects the impact of regulatory reforms, digital services and efforts aimed at making it easier for entrepreneurs to establish formal businesses. The SECP has increasingly shifted company incorporation and other corporate services toward digital platforms, helping reduce paperwork and simplify the registration process.
The growing number of new companies also indicates rising interest in sectors such as technology, e-commerce, trading, services, real estate, construction and other emerging industries. During FY2025-26, IT and e-commerce led company incorporations, followed by trading and services.
The latest milestone is being viewed as a positive sign for Pakistan’s business environment. More formal businesses can contribute to employment generation, investment, tax revenues and broader economic activity.
The SECP’s record July performance suggests that entrepreneurial activity remains resilient and that continued regulatory and digital reforms could further encourage businesses to enter the formal corporate sector.
