More than 2,000 kilograms of expired Wall’s ice cream has been seized from a cold-storage facility in Lahore during a food safety raid led by Salma Butt, Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister.

The operation was conducted with the Punjab Food Authority (PFA), which discovered the expired ice cream at a company cold store. Reports said some of the stock was fungus-affected and had expired in November 2025. The products were reportedly being stored alongside fresh stock at extremely low temperatures.

Authorities sealed the cold store and imposed a heavy fine after finding the unsafe products. Another report stated that around 3,000kg of expired and fungus-infested Wall’s ice cream was recovered from a distribution facility in Lahore’s Shahdara area. The recovered stock was declared unfit for human consumption and destroyed.

Salma Butt stressed that keeping expired food products in cold storage does not exempt businesses from food safety inspections. She also highlighted the importance of strict checks because ice cream is widely consumed by both children and adults.

The action comes as Punjab authorities intensify inspections of food businesses and cold-storage facilities. Officials have warned that expired or unsafe food products will not be allowed to enter the market and that violations of food safety standards could result in strict action.
