Saudi Arabia has recorded a remarkable 15.23 million Umrah performers during the first quarter of 2026, showing the continued importance of Umrah for Muslims around the world. The figure was reported by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Around 9.46 million people performed Umrah from within Saudi Arabia, while approximately 5.77 million international pilgrims travelled to the Kingdom for the religious journey.
Among international pilgrims, women slightly outnumbered men. Female overseas performers numbered about 2.99 million, compared with 2.78 million men.
Air travel remained the most popular way for international pilgrims to enter Saudi Arabia. About 86% of overseas Umrah performers arrived by air, while 13.6% entered through land crossings and a small share travelled by sea.
The statistics also show the strong participation of people living inside the Kingdom. Saudi nationals accounted for about 28.9% of all Umrah performers during the quarter.
The large number of pilgrims highlights the global appeal of Umrah and the significant role of Makkah and Madinah in Muslim religious life. It also reflects the scale of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to accommodate visitors and improve services for pilgrims.
With millions of people travelling to the Kingdom in just three months, the latest figures underline the continued growth and international reach of Umrah.
