Interpol Issues Red Notices for Business Tycoon and Bahria Town Owner Malik Riaz: NAB Chief

National Accountability Bureau Chairman Nazir Ahmed has said that Interpol has issued Red Notices for business tycoon Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz.

A Red Notice is an international request to locate and provisionally arrest a person while legal steps for extradition are completed. However, Interpol itself does not confirm guilt, and each member country decides how to act on such notices under its own laws.

The announcement was made during a press briefing in Islamabad. Officials said efforts are ongoing to bring both individuals back to Pakistan, though extradition can be complex and time-consuming, especially when it involves different legal systems.

Malik Riaz, founder of Bahria Town, is one of the country’s most well-known property developers. He and his son are currently reported to be in the UAE. They face multiple cases in Pakistan related to alleged corruption and land disputes.

Legal experts say extradition depends on agreements between countries and strong supporting evidence. Pakistan has previously faced challenges in bringing back high-profile individuals from abroad.

Authorities say they will continue pursuing the case through legal and diplomatic channels. The development highlights ongoing efforts to address corruption cases and enforce accountability beyond national borders over time.
