A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officer lost his life after reportedly intervening to stop an alleged kidnapping attempt near Bahria University and Air University in Islamabad. The incident occurred at Shaheen Chowk on Ninth Avenue within the jurisdiction of the Margalla Police Station, shocking residents and prompting a swift police investigation.
According to police and initial reports, the officer, identified as Group Captain Asim Tariq, noticed a young woman in apparent distress during an altercation with a man. Believing she was being forcibly taken away, he stepped in to help and confronted the suspect. During the confrontation, the alleged attacker opened fire, fatally wounding the PAF officer before fleeing the scene. The woman was later taken into protective custody by police.
