Saudia Arabia Issues Emergency Alerts for Makkah, Jeddah and Taif Amid Houthi Attacks

Saudi Arabia issued emergency alerts for Makkah, Jeddah and Taif on Tuesday, September 15, warning residents of a “potential danger” amid escalating attacks by Yemen’s Houthi forces.

The alerts were sent through Saudi Arabia’s National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies. Authorities urged residents to remain calm, follow official instructions and move to safe locations. The Civil Defence also advised people to stay indoors, keep away from windows and avoid open areas during the alert.

The warnings came as Houthi attacks against Saudi targets have intensified in recent days. Saudi officials said ballistic missiles and drones had been launched toward several locations, increasing security concerns across parts of the Kingdom.

Earlier, Saudi authorities reported that Houthi attacks on Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif had injured 13 civilians and damaged seven homes and two vehicles.

The emergency warning for Makkah was particularly significant because it was reportedly the first such alert issued for the holy city during the current escalation. Reports said the alerts were lifted shortly afterward after authorities determined that the immediate danger had passed.

The latest developments highlight growing regional security tensions as the conflict involving Houthi forces continues to threaten Saudi territory. Saudi authorities have vowed to take necessary measures to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.

Residents and visitors in affected areas have been advised to rely on official Saudi authorities for further updates and safety instructions.
