Pakistanis are likely to face difficulties with both the internet and electricity this week as two separate issues hit the country at the same time.
According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and other internet service providers, users may experience slow internet speeds or unstable connections from April 14 to April 20, 2026. This is due to scheduled maintenance and repair work on an international submarine cable system. The disruption is expected to be more noticeable during peak evening hours when internet usage is high.
At the same time, the Power Division has already announced daily loadshedding of around 2 to 2.25 hours, especially during peak hours from 5:00 pm to 1:00 am. This is mainly because of fuel shortages and reduced availability of LNG for power plants.
The combination of slow or unstable internet and regular power cuts is expected to affect students, freelancers, businesses, and online workers the most. Many people rely on stable electricity and fast internet for studies, remote work, and daily tasks.
Officials have advised citizens to plan their important online activities during daytime hours when possible. Internet service providers have asked users to be patient as the cable maintenance work is necessary for long-term improvement.
The internet repairs are expected to finish by April 20, while power authorities hope to improve the fuel situation in the coming days.
